Denise Ryan’s Story
I think that Pearson Hards is a long established firm with many members of staff who have been here for years which says a lot. A lot of the clients are people who have used the firm previously and have come back for additional matters, or they have recommended their friends and family. We also get referrals through Estate Agents in my Department and Mortgage Brokers.
Any legal job is extremely stressful due to deadlines, pressure of work etc, Pearson Hards is a very relaxed firm, everybody is super friendly and there never appears to be any hierarchy (everyone is treated the same regardless of their position in the firm). I have worked for firms before where there is a definite ‘them and us’ regarding the Partners, you just don’t get that here at all. It makes coming to work enjoyable and never something you dread in the morning. The job is the same wherever you work, but it’s the people that make it.
Achievements are well recognised. We have something called “feedback Friday” which is where if somebody has received good reviews/client feedback during the week this is posted on social media – Facebook, Linkedin and Instagram, and the feedback is always e-mailed to everyone in the firm by Claire with praise, which is very nice to receive when you’ve worked hard on a matter and have received a review.
I have only worked for the firm since last July, but there is always the option of attending any courses which are required to further your development. We have a whole online series of webinars with MBL which is easily accessible any time. There are many examples in the firm of people who have started at the bottom and through training have progressed up the ladder. I have a couple of colleagues who have been studying for their Licensed Conveyancing exams and have a half day a week study leave to be able to further this.
I haven’t needed to give feedback yet, but I think it would be easy to provide this as everybody is very approachable and never make you feel that they are too busy to listen to anything which is concerning you etc.
