Spotlight – Natasha Cane

I am a Trainee Conveyancer assisting clients with sales, purchases, transfers and remortgages of residential property.

I joined Pearson Hards over 10 years ago in May 2016 following completion of my A Levels. I knew I didn’t want to go to university and wanted to get straight into the work force. I started as an office junior doing general admin for all departments and in 2018, was offered a role as a conveyancing assistant to one of the Partners at the time.

At the beginning, I couldn’t even have told you what ‘conveyancing’ meant, but I quickly got up to speed and learned on the job. What I really enjoyed was being involved in the full client journey—seeing things through from offer being agreed to completion—and that’s the part I still find most rewarding today.

After a lot of encouragement from my colleagues, in late 2022, I began my studies to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer, completing my Level 4 qualification in late 2024.

With a lot of encouragement from my colleagues, I decided in late 2022 to start studying to become a Licensed Conveyancer, and I completed my Level 4 qualification in late 2024.

Around that time, I made the difficult decision to leave Pearson Hards, as it had been the only firm I’d worked at during my legal career, and I wanted to experience working within a larger firm.

After just over a year, an opportunity came up to return to Pearson Hards as a Trainee Conveyancer, which felt like the right next step with now 8 years’ conveyancing experience under my belt — allowing me to continue my studies while also starting to build my own caseload. Luckily for me, I was able to return to the same fantastic team, and they’ve been just as supportive as they always were.

I am hoping to obtain my License towards the end of next year (2027).

I’m really proud to be part of such an experienced team, with decades of conveyancing knowledge between us. We’re always there to support each other, and when someone’s on annual leave, you can trust that their work is in safe hands, which is a huge reassurance for not only the staff but also the clients.

As a team, we’ve built a strong local reputation and work hard to maintain it. We continue to work with and nurture our relationships with local businesses, particularly the estate agents.

As mentioned above, the most rewarding part of the job for me is guiding clients through each stage of the conveyancing process from start to finish.

I particularly enjoy working with first-time buyers, many of whom are a similar age to me, which helps me relate to their needs and explain the process clearly and in a way they can understand.

Outside of work, my biggest passion is live music. I went to my first Glastonbury last year, which was a bit of a dream come true. I also love catching up with friends, although my partner jokes that he has to book me in at least a month ahead!
